Francois La Rochefoucauld once said, “The sun and death are not to be looked at steadily”. These series of photographs are to illustrate that death is not only a part of life, but also part of nature. With these photos I didn’t intend to show the act of death or the decay, but acknowledge the human response and perception to what death is and what it means. Incorporating trees, branches, leaves, and sunlight are some of the motifs used to make the connection between death and nature visible. Death is the absolute end, the final stop. This end is not limited to humans, but animals, stars, planets, and eventually the universe. With this series, my ambition is to strip away the negative stereotypes on the perception and the act of death and hopefully show it to be something to look at steadily.
